They were arrested at Caffe Massarella in Meadowhall and taken to the Lifewise Centre where they were charged with their crimes which ranged from an attempt to kidnap Eric Clapton to dealing in black market coffee. During a tense time in the cells they had the chance to call on their friends and family to help them to raise the funds needed to secure their release. After a worrying wait they were hauled before the judge to plead for their freedom before they were set free. More than £5,000 was raised, which will be split between the charities.
Mark Massarella, SAFE@LAST Trustee and Managing Director of Massarella Catering Group said “We’ve had an exciting morning raising funds for two very worthwhile causes who both work to support children and families in our region. The support we have received from all those involved and our fantastic friends and family that have donated the funds to secure our release has been phenomenal. The experience definitely isn’t one I’ll forget.”
John Holt, the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, organised the event for his two chosen charities during his time in office.
